POTWIN – Wilma L. Sommers, age 98, passed away August 6, 2016, at Wheat State Manor, Whitewater, Kansas. She was born near Potwin, Kansas, on August 30, 1917. She was the daughter of Joe and Ethel (Huyett) Mead, Jr. She graduated from Potwin High School in 1935. On December 24, 1936, she was united in marriage to Si Sommers. They made their home near Potwin, where they were blessed with 3 sons. She was a homemaker and farm wife. She was preceded in death by her husband Si, her son Keith, and her only sibling Dorothy Sommers. She is lovingly survived by two sons: Darrell and wife Vicki of Potwin; and Curt and wife Ruth of Towanda; 7 grandchildren: Jamie Cunningham, and Doug, Jim, Dan Daren, Tom, and Ginger Sommers; and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation with family will be from 6 – 8 p.m., Friday, at Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 13, 2016, at the Potwin Christian Church. Interment will be in the Potwin Cemetery. A Memorial Fund has been established for the Potwin Christian Church in care of Lamb Funeral Home, 120 S Main, Whitewater, KS, 67154.
