Virginia Ann Honeycutt

August 13, 1932 — June 22, 2018

HERINGTON - Virginia Ann Honeycutt passed on Friday morning at the Pinnacle Park Nursing and Rehabilitation in Salina.  She was born August 13, 1932, in Herington.  She was the daughter of Wesley C. and A. Maude (Welch) Oesterreich.

Virginia lived on a farm north of Hope, Kansas, with her family until the age of eleven when they moved into Hope for two years then onto Herington.  She was a graduate of the Herington High School with the class of 1950.

August 24, 1950, she married Billy Joe Honeycutt in Herington.  May 6, 1961, they moved to Longmont, Colorado, to work at Beech Aircraft.  It was a positive move for them.

Virginia’s life revolved with the home first then reaching out to others.

Amongst her many pleasures was being a librarian to the elementary level students in the St. Vrain Valley School District; “Children” our greatest gift”.

Virginia’s creative talent was evidenced through her many crafts shared with family and friends. Crafts included a “Blue Ribbon” at the Boulder City Fair; a baby quilt theme, “Circus.”

She totally enjoyed daily walks, beautiful snow-capped mountains, birds singing, and a chat with friends. Virginia was a member of Rainbow Girls, volunteered many years at Longmont United Hospital, Prestige Plus, and on the Board of Directors at the Longmont Senior Center, as well as a Board member of the AARP Longmont Chapter.  She was of the Christian faith.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Donna M. Jacobs; a brother, Leland R.“Bud” Oesterreich; two nephews, James M. Jacobs and Larry D.  Jacobs.

She is survived by a sister, Carol Heath of Longmont, CO; her nieces, Barbara, Patty, and Nancy: and nephews, Steve, Gary, Steven, Kenneth, and Michael.
