HERINGTON – Veronica (Mascareno) Welch, 75, lifelong resident of Herington, died Sunday, May 22nd, 2016, at her home in Herington. She was born March 2, 1941, in Herington, the daughter of Tomas and Rosa (Garcia) Mascareno.
Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm., Saturday, June 4th, 2016, at the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington, with Fr. Soosaimari “Soosai” Rathinam, officiating.
Mrs. Welch was a dietician at the Lutheran Home and a baker at the Herington High School for 35 years. She was an active member of the St. John’s Catholic Church, Herington; and a member of the Altar Society and past president, and sang in the church choir. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother. She attended St. John’s Catholic School, and graduated from Herington High School with the class of 1959.
She married David Welch on June 1, 1968, at St. John’s Catholic Church; he preceded in death. She is also preceded in death by her twin sister Monica Perez (02/21/2005), and four (4) other sisters: Louise Pimentel, Nadine DeLaCruz, Sophie Martinez, & Marie “Molly” Gonzolas, five (5) brothers: Pedro Mascareno, Manuel Mascareno, Santiago “Sandy” Mascareno , Tony Mascareno, & Rudolph “Rudy” Mascareno; and her parents.
Survived by her God Son Ray Tomas Perez of Herington, a Foster Son Michael Weber of Conway Springs; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Memorials have been requested to the Hospice of Dickinson County; and may be sent in care of the Zeiner Funeral Home-Herington Chapel, 404 S. Broadway, Herington, KS 67449-3038.
