Talma Bea Klaassen, 91, died Sunday, December 23, 2018. She was born in Harper, Kansas on December 13, 1927, to Floyd E. Newton and Bernice Laverne (Babcock) Newton. She Attended Arkansas Avenue Grade School, Kechi Center Grade School, and North High in Wichita. After Being Graduated from Kansas State University in 1949, she married Theodore "Ted" Kurt Klaassen. After his graduation in the spring of 1950, they returned to farm with Ted's father Abraham "Abe" Klaassen near Whitewater, where they raised three sons, Michael John (b. 1951), Thomas Dwight (b. 1953), and Matthew Kurt (b. 1956). Preceded in death by her parents, her brother Donald Leo Newton of Monroe, LA (1998), her husband Ted (2008), her sons Matt (1984) and Tom (2008), and her daughter-in-law Carol S. (Dawson) Klaassen (2012). Survived by her son Mike (Gerri Colgan), her daughter-in-law Linda J. (Kimble) Klaassen, grandsons Kourt (Tracy), Derek (Stacee), Brent (Megan), Trevor, and Mitchell (Heather), nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 6:00 – 8 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2018, Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Northside Church of Christ, Wichita. Burial at Brainerd Cemetery 12:30 p.m. Brainerd, KS
