Life began for Steven Allen Ellis on July 28, 1969, in Hillsboro, KS. He was the son of Velma Ellis (Johnson) and Timothy Johnson. Steven graduated high school in Augusta, KS with the Class of 1987. After high school he spent 2 years in the military. Steven was also a volunteer firefighter for Southern Stone County Fire Department in Missouri. Along with 20 plus years of construction in multiple areas of Missouri. Steven moved to Kansas in 2012, where he worked at Alco Warehouse until they closed. He then became a tow truck operator and also delivered pizzas. Steven married his best friend of 16 years, Melissa Salada, on June 6, 2022, where Steven gained 3 beautiful children: Dalton, Dillon, and Mariah. Steven was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was there to help anyone, and he proved more than anything blood doesn’t always make you family.

On Saturday, September 9, 2023, in Abilene, Steven passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife, kids, and family. He is survived by his wife: Melissa Salada, of the home, Abilene, KS; his children: Mariah Stover, Dalton (Sarah) Stover, both of Abilene, KS; Nichole Way and Donna Hiatt of Kimberling City, MO; Kristy (Nick) Graves of Medina, TN; 3 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Steven is preceded in death by his mother Velma, his sister-in-law Debbie, and his son Dillon.
