Steve Hett

October 23, 1948 — April 1, 2016

MARION – Steven L. “Steve” Hett, 67, passed away April 1, 2016, at Newton Medical Center.  He was born October 23, 1948, at Marion, the son of Walter and Jacquelyn (Manuel) Hett.  He proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  In 1990, he was united in marriage to Barbara Stephens.  He owned Hett Roofing and was also a rancher.  He was preceded in death by his father Walter Hett.  He is lovingly survived by his wife Barbara Hett of Marion; his mother Jackie Hett of Marion; his daughter Kelley Schafers  and her husband Travis of Marion; a son Ed Svitak and his wife Mindi of Pilsen; and a daughter Amy Woods and her husband James of San Antonio, Texas; his sisters:  Melanie Ensey and her husband Larry of Marion; Melinda Helmer and her husband Ken of Wichita; and Melissa O’Sullivan and her husband Tim of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.  Visitation with family will be held from  6 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.  The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Aulne United Methodist Church.  Interment with military rites will be in the Claney Cemetery.   A Memorial Fund has been established for the Quail Forever Youth Program, in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm, Marion, KS, 66861.  Online Condolences may be left at:  www.zeinerfuneralhomes.com.
