Sherry A Coats

EL DORADO – Sherry A. Coats, 73, passed away October 11, 2015, at Wheat State Manor, Whitewater, Kansas.  She was born June 1, 1942, at Greeley, Colorado.  She was the daughter of Glen and Leora (Bernhardt) Berryman.  After high school graduation, she became a licensed Cosmetologist.  On February 18, 1961, she was united in marriage to Harold “Bus” Coats at the Christian Church in Potwin.  She worked as a church secretary at First Baptist Church for 28 years.  She was an active member of Swiss Church, where she taught the Jr. high youth group.  She was also active in the Christian Motorcycle Association, Central Kansas Prison Ministry, and the Chuck Colson Ministry.  She was preceded in death by her father, Glen Barryman.  She is lovingly survived by her mother, Leora Berryman of Potwin; her husband, Bus Coats of El Dorado; her 3 sons:  Vincent and wife Lola Coats of Potwin; Lance and wife Robin Coats of Potwin; and Darren and wife Amy Berryman of Benton; her 3 brothers:  Gene Berryman of Florida; Gilbert Berryman of Wellington; and Roger Berryman of Elko, Nevada; 9 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.  Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater.  The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at Swiss Church, Whitewater.  Interment will follow at the McGill Cemetery, Potwin.  Memorial Funds have been established for Swiss Life Center or Ponca Bible Camp – New Bus Fund, in care of Lamb Funeral Home, 120 S. Main, Whitewater, KS, 67154.  Condolences may be left at www.zeinerfuneralhomes.com.
