Ruth Louise Gantz

Ruth’s life began on June 6, 1925, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Schranz) Peters in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Blue Island, Illinois High School Class of 1942 and married Almus “Al” Richard Gantz on August 9, 1947, in Oaklawn, Illinois.

She was a homemaker and attended Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion. She loved K-State sports and played basketball in high school. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, embroidery and handwork.

Her loving family includes her husband, Al of Marion; children, Barbara Doyle of Richardson, Texas, Howard  Gantz (Donna) of Kingman, Kansas, and Alice Martin (Tom Holtgrew) of Bonner Springs, Kansas; six grandchildren, Brian Doyle (Amy), Stephen Doyle (Angela Capio), David Gantz (Brittany Lagemann), Krystal Gantz Fensky (Travis Fensky), Geoffrey Martin (Angie Flax), Andrea Martin; six great-grandchildren, Rose, Stella, Max, Bella, Benjamin and Lois.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jean Claussen and LaVerne Albrecht. Ruth passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2020, at the age of 94 years old.

Ruth’s family will gather with friends on Tuesday, February 11, from 10-11:00 a.m. Her funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. both at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, 205 Elm Street, Marion. She will then be laid to rest in Marion Cemetery
