Rosy’s life began on March 19, 1932 in Denmark, KS. She was the daughter of Abraham Lincoln Sorensen and Etta Mae (Webb) Sorensen. She was united in marriage to Ross E. Girton on June 2, 1951 in Denmark. Rosy drove a school bus for 22 years and was a foster parent for over 25 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, served as a camp host at Herington Lake and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Herington. Rosy’s loving family includes her children Crissetta “Cris” Middleton of Hope, Kelly (Elaine) Girton of Sabetha, and Holly (Tony) Daniel of Allen, TX; grandchildren Todd ( Tresea) Middleton of Hope, Tina (Aaron) Lauxman of Hope, Eric (Michele) Girton of Waverly, IA, Brad (Krystal) Girton of Mahomet, IL, Laura (Jeff) Thompson of Olathe, and Christina Middleton of Wichita; great grandchildren Alissa (Tyler) Emery of CO., Brian Lauxman of Hope, Nicole Middleton of Hope, Henry Girton of Mahomet, IL, Vivian Girton of Mahomet, IL , Ava Thompson of Olathe, Todd Middlleton and Ashlee Middleton; great great grandchildren Amelia, Nash and Dax Emery and Nathan Baker and her sister Genevieve Landgren of Lindsborg. Rosy passed away on December 30, 2020 at Enterprise Estates Nursing Center. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings A. L. Sorenson, Jr., Leonard Greene, Dale Greene, Betty Lawson, and Edith Sheldon. Her family will gather with friends on Monday January 4, 2021 at 2 p.m. for her graveside service led by Pastor Darryl Geist at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington. Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Herington is serving the family. Memorial contributions in Rosy’s name may be directed to Enterprise Estates Nursing Center or First Baptist Church.
