Ronald “Ron” James Oliva, age 70, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 in San Antonio, TX. He was born September 25, 1950 to Peggy Ann Lyons Potts and Harry James Oliva in Sulphur, Louisiana.
Ron attended Sulphur High School where he played the trumpet in the high school band. After graduation, he joined the Air Force and retired as an officer after 24-years of service. After his AF Space Command career, he worked nearly another ten years as a CPA in San Antonio. Ron was devout with his Christian faith. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father Harry James Oliva; uncle, Ted Lyons; and brother-in-law, Kirkwood S. Hawthorne. Ron is survived by his wife, Cynthia Hawthorne Oliva; son, Roland Oliva and wife Lindy of Katy, Texas; daughter, Annie Oliva Rodriguez of Roseville, California; grandsons, Jacob and Jaxson Rodriguez of Roseville, California; sisters, Cindy Wilson and husband Tim of Celina, Texas, Connie S. Garland and husband Bill of Aransas Pass, Texas, and Becky Dethlefs of Comanche, Oklahoma; mother, Peggy A. Potts of Rusk, Texas; and mother-in-law Miriam S. Hawthorne of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family throughout Louisiana and Texas.
