Richard D. Riggs

FLORENCE – Richard D. Riggs, age 56, passed away at home, surrounded by his family, following a lengthy illness.  He was born September 30, 1959, at Florence, the son of Lewis and Mary (Farmer) Riggs.  He was a graduate of Marion High School with the class of 1977.  On December 14, 1991, he was united in marriage to Raquel Allison.  He worked for Manville for 25 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Calvin Riggs and a granddaughter Rebecca Deist.  He is survived by his wife Raquel Riggs of Florence; his children:  Starla Gesaman and husband Josh of McPherson; Merissa Bowman and husband Greg of Marion; Erika Smalley and husband Brandon of Topeka; and Leslie Riggs of McPherson; his grandchildren: Sybil and Hazel Bowman, and Matthew and James Gesaman; and brothers:  Mahlon Riggs and Wesley Riggs both of Florence.  The Visitation with family will be held from 6 – 8 p.m., Monday, Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.  The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 20, 2016, Florence United Methodist Church.  Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence.
