HERINGTON - Rev. Lester G. Trusty, 88, former resident of Herington, died Sunday, February 7th, 2016, a day before his 89th birthday at Pinnacle Park care facility in Salina. He was born on February 8th, 1927, at Eckerty, Indiana, the son of James J. and Maude Mae (Brown) Trusty.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30am Friday, February 12th, at the First Baptist Church, Herington, with Rev. Darrell Geist officiating; with military committal following at the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:30pm until 8:00pm at the Zeiner Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.
Rev. Trusty served the Nazarene Church and later the Church of God, both in Herington until he retired. He also worked as a plumber and pipe fitter. He was President of the Herington Lion’s Club in 2000, and he served as a Boy Scout’s Leader. He served as a PFC in the Military Policeman in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II in the Army - Air Corps.
He married Patsy Mae Williams on September 26, 1952, in Colorado Springs, CO; she preceded in death on March 1st, 2006. He is also preceded in death by his sister Nancy Highfill; three (3) brothers: James, Samuel, and Noah Scott Atkins; and his parents.
He is survived by his three (3) sons: LeRoy Trusty and his wife Belinda of Colorado Springs, CO, Mark Trusty and his wife Beverly of Salina, David Trusty and his wife Tracy of Holly, CO, 11 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren.
