Patty Joan (Johnson) Shahan died on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Abilene Memorial Hospital, Abilene, Kansas. Patty was the 7th child born to Gladys Pearl (Solomon, Hunt) Johnson and Omar Davis Johnson on October 25, 1930 in Herington, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, sisters Vera Jane (Johnson) Maybee, Mary Ella (Johnson) Dalton, Lola Maxine (Johnson) Miller, and brothers William Robert (Hunt) Johnson, Chester Clyde (Hunt) Johnson, Delbert Keith Johnson, and Omar Deason Johnson.

Patty graduated from Herington High School, Herington, Kansas with the Class of 1948.

 On May 3, 1949 Patty enlisted in the Womens Army Corp, United States Army, Company E, 1st Battalion at Camp Lee, Virginia. Private Johnson joined her WAC detail at Murphy General Hospital, Waltham, Massachusetts on July 11, 1949. Later, on May 29, 1950, she moved to Army Medical Center at Washington, D.C. On June 8th, 1950, Private Patty J. Johnson received an honorable discharge from the Army. 

 On May 18, 1950 Patty married Winfield Scott Shahan at her Mother’s home on North 8th Street in Herington. The couple welcomed two daughters: Susan Merle Shahan on August 5, 1951 and Sherry Joan Shahan on September 5, 1952.

 Patty is survived by her husband, Scott and daughters Susan and Sherry. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Elizabeth (Neal) Barton, Lauren (Neal) DiMartino, and Andrew Neal. She was also survived by three great-grandchildren: Scott Barton, Louise Barton, and Brady DiMartino. Patty has two surviving sisters: Alma Baldwin and Karen Milham. 

 There will be no service with a private inurnment at a later date.
