Patricia R McLinden

Patricia (Patty) Ray Longhofer was born on April 28,1943 in Wichita KS to Raymond & Patricia Longofer. She attended Marion schools through her graduation from MHS in 1961. She then attended Emporia State Teachers College for 2 years. On August 24, 1963 she married Richard (Dick) McLinden of rural Florence. She helped on the ranch until 1970 when she began work at the Chase County Sheriff's Office and later moved to the Chase County Attorney's office. In 1978 she and Dick moved to Tipton MO where she operated the Sears catalog store, later working for the State of Missouri in the ManPower planning department. In 1987 they returned to Marion County where she worked as the USD 408 Elementary School secretary. Later she worked in the Dean's office of the College of Health Professions at Wichita State University - a job she held until she retired. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her Son Chuck of rural Florence KS, daughter Susie of Olathe KS, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.  A Vigil service will be held on Monday July 8, 2024 at 7 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Florence where her Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m.  Memorial contributions in Patty’s name may be directed to the Father Kapaun Legacy Fund, Good Shepherd Hospice or the Marion City Library.
