Mildred K. Brown

BRAINERD – Mildred K. Brown, age 93, passed away April 5, 2016, at Schowalter Villa, Hesston, Kansas.  She was born September 14, 1922, rural Potwin, the daughter of George and Alice (Corman) Cornelius.  Mildred graduated from Whitewater High School.  On April 20, 1943, she was united in marriage to E. Ray Brown, Sr., in Nevada.  The family lived in California, moving to Brainerd, Kansas, in 1952, where Mildred continued to live until moving in with her daughter, Janice.  As her health required greater care, she moved to Schowalter Villa.  Mildred was preceded in death by her husband in June of 1978; a granddaughter Marcia Brown; a sister Margaret Cade; and six brothers:  George, Lawrence, Charles, Jacob, Joseph and Robert Cornelius.  She is survived by her children:  a daughter Kathleen Schmidt and her husband Clinton of Whitewater; a son Ray Brown, Jr. and his wife Mary of Potwin; a daughter Janice Demel and her husband Vern of Moundridge; and a step-son George Brown and his wife Beverly of Longville, Louisiana; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; a sister Wilma Carter of Brainerd; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Visitation with family will be from 4 – 6 p.m., Sunday, at Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater.  The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., April 11, 2016, at the Federated Church of Whitewater, with Pastor Jack Dickson officiating.  Interment will be in the Brainerd Cemetery.  A Memorial Fund has been established for Schowalter Villa in care of Lamb Funeral Home, 120 S Main, Whitewater, KS, 67154.  Online Condolences may be left at www.zeinerfuneralhome.com.
