Michael Evan Cain

Michael Evan Cain made his way into this world on June 21, 1988, weighing in at a whopping 8lbs and 14oz! From the moment he was born, he had mom, dad and nurses alike immediately wrapped around his little fingers. Danny and Terri poured so much love into Michael from the very beginning, shaping him into the humble and kind human he became.

As a toddler, he was obsessed with Teenage Mutant Nija Turtles, the love of which he passed on to his two sons, Carter and Caleb. Some of his best memories from his elementary years were running around Potwin, building bike ramps with his very dear friends and cousins, Jordan, Josh and Cody. He loved playing WWE with his brother and built in best friend, Sheldon. He kept up the tradition with his own boys with nightly wrestling matches in the living room.

During his middle school era, he blossomed into quite the social butterfly. He found a passion for football that continued to grow into high school. At Remington High, he immediately formed a VERY elite and sought after social club….the RHS Fab Four! Michael, Chad, Gavin and Grant were inseparable throughout their 4 years of high school and spent most of their time playing different sports and keeping everyone laughing.

After graduating, Michael got his associates degree from Butler Community College in criminal justice. He then joined the Air National Guard and completed Basic Training where he was an element leader among his flight. From there, he went on to Tech School in California to further his diesel technician training. While there, him and Brooke were introduced by mutual friends. After texting for a week, Michael called Brooke for the first time and the very first thing he ever said to her was, “Do you know what color a giraffe’s tongue is?” He was a true romantic!

As soon as he got home from California, he set his bags down at mom and dad’s house and said, “I’m going to see Brooke!” And they’ve been attached at the hip ever since. They got married on 8/11/2012 (and then again on 8/26/2012—if you haven’t heard that story, ask a family member about it!), bringing together two families that have enjoyed finding any reason to celebrate together over the last 13 years.

Michael and Brooke’s favorite thing to do was travel far and wide. Their shared love of adventure took them to 15 countries and most of the 50 states. It seemed getting lost along the way was always a part of their travels, but they turned getting lost into part of the fun, and Michael followed Brooke anywhere. Before becoming a dad, he was Uncle Michael, and he loved having a house full of nieces and nephews. They later adopted two sweet sons, and Michael quickly became the best dad in the world. He could rarely say no to any of the boys’ (or Brooke’s) antics and as a family of four, they continued to have the time of their lives from camping in the middle of nowhere to moving to Costa Rica for a short time, where they had some of their greatest life adventures. One of Michael’s favorite ways to spend an evening was to crank up some music and get a dance party started in the kitchen while Brooke was cooking, proving that white boys can’t dance! But he sure had fun trying.

We are forever grateful for all the years we have had with one of the most wonderful humans God ever placed on this earth. We will never forget the love, joy, laughter and excitement he brought to our lives. While this is never how we saw his life story ending, we will choose to focus on how his life began and how it was lived out. When God gives us glimpses of Heaven and reminders of Michael, we will hold onto them with grateful hearts. More than ever, we anticipate Heaven and can’t wait until the day we see him again.
