Mervin’s life began on September 20, 1935, in Lost Springs. He was the son of Ortwin and Hannah (Bernhardt) Deines.
Mervin was united in marriage to Leona Warns on April 20, 1958, at St. John’s Lutheran- Lyons Creek Church. He was a welder by trade and long-time area farmer. Mervin was an avid Royals, Chiefs and K-State fan. When he was younger, he and his brothers played a lot of fast pitch softball all over the area.
His greatest joy was his family which includes his wife Leona of Ramona; children Jeff (Gayla) Deines of Ramona, Debbie Coup of Salina, and Terry ( Julie) Deines of Ramona; grandchildren Jessica (Andrew) Hajek, Samantha ( Seth) Metzler, Adam (Kelly) Coup, Shelby (Parker) Erickson, Justin ( Josie ) Deines, Makenzie ( Zac) Anthony, Dylan ( Ellie) Deines, and Carly ( Cory Brown) Deines; great grandchildren Camdyn, Breckyn, Landyn, Griffyn, Bristol, Rory, Branson, Gina, Grady and Lainey and his sister in law Rosemary Deines of Herington.
Mervin passed away on Sunday July 14, 2024, at Salina Regional Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Vernon and Weldon. Mervin’s family will gather with friends on Wednesday July 17, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington. His funeral service will be held on Thursday July 18, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ramona with burial following at Lewis Cemetery, Ramona.
