HERINGTON - J. Maxine Lapham, of Herington, died Friday, September 16th, 2016, at the Legacy of Herington care facility. She was born on October 22nd, 1923, at Delavan, the daughter of John A. and Eva W. (Bruckner) Herpich.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 PM, Tuesday, Sept. 20th, 2016, at the First Christian Church of Herington, with Rev. Sherman Sack, officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Delavan Cemetery.
She graduated from Delavan High School with the class of 1941. Following high school, she went to work for Boeing Aircraft as a riveter on B29’s. She liked to plant a garden and can vegetables from her garden. She was known for making the best peanut brittle and would surprise her loved ones with a batch at different times throughout the year. She was a member of the First Christian Church and Women. She was a member of White City Chapter #421 and had held the office of Warder during the active years as a member and was a member of Esther Club of Herington.
She is preceded in death by five Herpich brothers Harold, Orlando, Leodore, Russell, Kenneth; three sisters Gertrude Smithson, Mildred Papenhaus, Frances Dittmeyer, and her parents.
She is survived by a son Bradley Lapham of Herington; and her sister Joyce Kemble (husband- Don) of Herington, and many nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorials to First Christian Church; and may be sent in care of the Zeiner Funeral Home, 404 S. Broadway, Herington, KS, 67449-3038.
