HERINGTON - Maureen E. Obermeyer, 73, of Herington, died Monday, January 4th, 2016, at her home. She was born at Dundee, Scotland, on August 21, 1942, the daughter of Leonard and Helen E. (Urquhart) Hancock.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am., Saturday, January 9th, 2016, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington, with Pastor Bill Peterson, officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Zeiner Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.
Mrs. Obermeyer was a homemaker and she also assisted with the Pre-School in Herington. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, and was very active with the Ladies Aide.
She married Marvin C. “Butch/Obe” Obermeyer, Jr. on December 6, 1964, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington, he survives. She is also survived by a son Michael Obermeyer (wife-Dawn) of Wichita; three (3) daughters: Anita Cook (husband-Jim) of Manhattan, Sharon Murphy (husband-Bill) of Louisburg, Michelle Obermeyer(companion-Norman Savoy) of Junction City; and two (2) brothers: Errol Hancock (wife-Hazel) of Devon, Alberta, Canada, and Michael Hancock (wife-Muji) of Sydney, Australia. Nine (9) grandchildren: Kody & Konner Cook, Mackenzie & Madison Obermeyer, Aidan & Shae Murphy, Eli Lamberty, and D’Ahja & A’Kylie Savoy.
Preceded in death by her parents Helen (11/28/1997) and Leonard (09/26/2006).
The family requests memorials to Hospice of Dickinson County, St. Jude Childrens Hospital, or the Salvation Army; and may be sent in care of the Zeiner Funeral Home-Herington Chapel, 404 S. Broadway, Herington, KS 67449-3038.
