Maryella Mae Hampton

Maryella’s life began on August 29, 1938, in Hayspring, NE.  She is the daughter of Alfred and Hazel (Moore) Moss.  Maryella was a 1956 graduate of Denver West High School.  She was united in marriage to William L. Hampton on September 20, 1958, in Denver.

 Maryella operated a daycare center in Herington for 22 years.  She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and spending time with her family.  Maryella was an avid fan of Kansas University Basketball, Dallas Cowboys football and her little dog P.J.

 She is survived by her husband of nearly 65 years Bill of Herington; children Jeffrey A. Hampton of Herington, Pamela ( Brian) Pertl of Bunker Hill, KS, Raye Ann Fegan of Junction City, and Cathy (Kirk) Brown of Russell, KS; grandchildren Shane (Mindy ) Pertl, Derreck (Afton) Brown of Russell, KS, Britni (Cody) Pope of Russell, KS and Taylor (Will) Fegan of Kansas City; great grandchildren Odessea, Mox, and MoJo Pertl,  Hadlee, Rush, and  Kennedy Brown, Piper and Holden Pope; and her sister Roberta M. Platt.

 Maryella passed away on Saturday July 29, 2023, at her home.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert A. Moss, sister Pearl M. Claussen, son in law Pat Fegan and brother in laws Harry Claussen and Mel Platt.

 Her family will gather with friends on Monday August 7, 2023, from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington. Graveside Service for Maryella will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday August 8, 2023, at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington, KS.  Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Home Health and Hospice of Dickinson County.  Please sign her online guestbook and leave a memory of Maryella at www.yazelmeglifh.com.
