Mary’s life began on September 15, 1931, in Lansing, MI. She was the daughter of Dr. Howard W. and Myrtle L. (Tobias) Johnson. Mary is a 1947 graduate of Greenbelt High School in Maryland. Mary was fortunate as a young girl to be around people of great importance. She even sat on President Franklin Roosevelt’s lap. She served her country in the United State Air Force from 1952 – 1954 as an assistant in a medical hospital. Mary was a homemaker and served as a teacher’s aide for over 20 years. She was united in marriage to Roland Yerion on November 1, 1953, in New Mexico. Mary was an avid quilter and was a member of Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion. She was also a member of the VFW and American Legion. Mary is survived by her children Dale (Jeanne) Yerion of New Mexico, Shawn (Tom) Wunderlick of Marion, Deckie (Tim) Kerfoot of Washington, Nona (Dwayne) Woolbright of South Carolina, and Heather (Kristin) Yerion-Keck of Kansas City; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mary passed away at Hillsboro Community Hospital on Monday September 12, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, and brother. Her family will gather with friends on Monday September 19, 2022 from 6-8 p.m., at Yazel Megli Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday September 20, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Eastmoor United Methodist Church led by Pastor Darren Frazier. Mary will be laid to rest in Maron Cemetery.
