FLORENCE - Marjorie Anita Maltbie Osgood, age 80, entered her eternal rest on July 25, 2016, at Asbury Park, Newton. She was born July 21, 1936, in Marion, the eldest daughter of Glenn Warren and Wilma Anita (Glasscock) Maltbie.
Marjorie was an avid cook and served many meals to hunters in the Homestead area. She supported her children’s athletic activities through her kitchen, as well, by making pastries and doughnuts for the Friday night ball games at Chase County Middle and High Schools. She was always up for a good game of cards, loved music, enjoyed her visits to the casinos, and making crafts. Family always came first for Marge and she especially loved the little ones.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Max Osgood; an infant son Warren Lee Albright; two daughters LaVerna Jean Chaney and Regina Rae Osgood; and five siblings: Lois Krause, Joyce May, Edward, Alfred, and Marvin Maltbie.
She is survived by her children: Theresa Danby (Brian) of Newton; Monica Graves (Michael) of Emporia; Connie Lang (William) of Topeka; Anita Hind (Michael) of Newton; Lawrence Osgood (Phyllis) of Cedar Point; and Michelle Nelson (Shane) of Cassoday; her siblings: Charles Maltbie, Sr. of Beverly; and Bertha Parscal of El Dorado; her 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
The Visitation will be held from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Thursday evening at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 29, 2016, at the Florence United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery of Florence.
