Linda’s life began on December 14, 1948, in Salina, Kansas. She was the daughter of Alvin and Virginia (Yates) Brunner. Linda graduated from Jennie Edmundson School of Nursing in 1972 and Clarkson College of Nursing with her Bachelor of Science in 1985. She later went onto earn her Advanced EMT certification and was taking courses for an administration program at the time of her passing. After graduating from Jennie Edmundson, Linda worked in several different hospitals, including at Strategic Air Command, before pursuing a career with Mutual of Omaha as a Medicare nurse consultant for over 20 years. At the same time, Linda served her country in the United States Army Reserves for 16 years and retired as a Major. Linda was a parishioner of St. John Catholic Church in Herington and a member of the Altar Society. She was the family member who made sure each relative had their graves decorated for Memorial Day. Linda was strong-willed and seemed tough to the world, but she always wanted the best for everyone around her. She is survived by her daughter Virginia and son-in-law Clancey Livingston of Manhattan, KS, sister Christine and brother-in-law Lt. Col. John Valaika of Leland, NC, nephew Michael Valaika and niece Michelle Rives. Linda passed away at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan on Thursday February 27, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Cynthia. Her family will gather with friends on Sunday March 9, 2025, from 3-5 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home where Rosary prayers will be offered at 5 p.m. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday March 10, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church in Herington by Father George Chalbhagam-Raph. She will be laid to rest with military honors in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Linda’s name may be directed to St. Labre Mission or to Disabled American Veterans. Please sign her online guestbook and leave a memory of Linda at www.yazelmeglifh.com.
