Larry J Miller

On Sunday, January 19th, 2025, the greatest man we’ve ever known, moved to a beautiful gated community called Heaven to live eternally with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Larry Joe Miller was placed on this earth on October 3rd, 1939, into the arms of Glenn and Mary (Hensley) Miller. Born and raised in Kansas, he mostly lived the country life doing country things. While attending Abilene High School, and after graduating in 1957, he worked with his family running the Abilene Dairy. Larry worked hard starting at a young age, but not so much that he didn’t have time for a little fun too. Those good times brought him to what would become his whole life!

Larry met Janice Priest, the absolute love of his life, in Herington, Kansas in 1958. When Janice graduated high school in 1961, he carried her from the teacher to the preacher, and they became husband and wife. While he still worked at the dairy, they moved to Abilene, and one year later, their oldest child Scotty was born. Four years later, and living back in Herington, they added two more children. Darcy came along in 1966, and Delynne arrived in 1972. During this time, Larry went to work for the Rock Island Railroad and retired from there after 34 years of service. He also started his own company, LJ Miller Supply, dealing in surplus materials, and continued that until the very end.

Larry was gentle and meek, as are those who wait for the Lord. He was patient, kind and a forgiving man. He loved the Lord with all his heart and took every opportunity he found to share the word of God. He always led by example in all he did, be it at work, with family, friends or complete strangers. Larry spent a great deal of time praying for others in whatever fashion they might need. He always put others first.

He had a fun and quirky sense of humor. His laughter echoed, and his laugh made everything even funnier. Throughout his life, Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing and planting his garden, especially his tomatoes! He loved potatoes, Miller tacos and chocolate. What he mostly enjoyed was working to provide for his family and found joy in helping others in need.

More than anything... Larry had a mad love for his wife and family. They both were fiercely loyal in every way, and after 67 years together their love was still as vibrant and beautiful as ever. Larry was an exquisite example of what a husband, dad, grandpa and friend should be. Too many to count, have said that they are so thankful for the positive traits they inherited through his loving ways. His absence has already left a huge void that can never be filled. Living in this world without him feels nearly impossible, but bearable, because we know we will see him again.

The legacy that Larry leaves behind is his wife Janice, son Scotty Miller (Joy), daughters Darcy Miller and Delynne Nuss (Craig). Grandchildren; Perri Tresemer (Andrew), Daniel, Ian and Regan Miller, Trenton Gardner and Rylie Tabares (Mason); Great Grandchild; Peter Tresemer and Baby Tresemer on the way. Many nieces and nephews, dear friends and sweet little dog Zoe Lou.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Mary Miller, father and mother-in-law Clifford and Marian Priest, brother and sister-in-law Jim and Anna Mae Miller, brother-in-law and sisters-in- law, Elroy and Linda Zoglman and Judy Dix.
