Juanita’s life began on November 12, 1936, in Peabody. She was the daughter of Fred and Wanda (McIntosh) Dowell. Juanita was a graduate of Peabody High School and was united in marriage to Robert Silhan on August 2, 1958, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Marion. She was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Marion and was a long-time member of the Pilsen EHU. Juanita worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Luke’s Living Center and for a few years at Marion Elementary in the kitchen. She moved to Florence in 1998 from Marion. Juanita is survived by two sons, Mark Silhan of Longford, and David Silhan of Marion: several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She passed away on January 1, 2024, at the Bethesda Home in Goessel. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert in 2003 and son James. Her family will gather with friends on Thursday January 4, 2024, from 6-7:30p.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Marion where her vigil service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday January 5, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Marion. She will be laid to rest in Pilsen Cemetery following Mass. Yazel Megli Funeral Home is serving the family. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the Father Kapaun Legacy Fund.
