Joyce Whiteman

Joyce’s life began on September 10, 1957, at Wesley Hospital in Wichita, a place where she would spend a lifelong career working. She was the daughter of Melvin L. and Georgia M. (Vogel) Whiteman. Joyce was a 1975 graduate of Marion High School and earned her bachelors of nursing degree from Wichita State University. Joyce spent over 35 years as a nurse at Wesley Medical Center, mostly in the surgical intensive care unit where she was often a one on one nurse to those in critical condition. When she wasn’t working, she was often found spoiling her cats. Joyce is survived by her brother Gail (Louise) Whiteman of Marion, and nephews Justin (Erin) Whiteman of Marion, Jess (Kimberly) Whiteman of Marion and Jarvis Whiteman of Marion and several great nieces and great nephews. Joyce passed away on Sunday September 15, 2024, at Salem Home in Hillsboro. She is preceded in death by her parents. Joyce’s family will receive friends on Saturday September 21, 2024, from 4-6 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Marion. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Salem Home.
