MARION – Jerald W. Stockdale, age 89, passed away August 11, 2016, at his residence surrounded by the love of his family. He was born May 19, 1927, in Wichita, Kansas. He was the son of William and Bertha (Cotton) Stockdale. He served in the United States Navy during WWII on the USS Medusa. On June 1, 1972, he was united in marriage to Cara Lee Anderson. Jerald was a carpenter. In retirement they relocated to the Marion County Lake. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Stockdale; and both of his sisters: Doris Ashley and Shirley Merth. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Cara Stockdale of Marion; his children: Patricia Loder of Parkville, Missouri; Joan Rapp of Wichita; and Donald Stockdale and wife Anna of Sanford, North Carolina; his step-children: Blake Seacat and wife Cheryl of Edwardsville; Brad Seacat and wife Anita of Marion; and Robert Seacat and wife Julie of Wichita; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation with family will be held from 6 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Emmanuel Baptist Church of Marion, with the Rev. Joshua Wesner presiding. Interment will follow in the Marion Cemetery.
