Jay was born in Newton, KS on October 7, 1945. He graduated from Whitewater High School and continued his education at Emporia State University, graduating with a degree in accounting. During this period, Jay also served in Korea with the Air National Guard. After returning from Korea, he purchased the family business, Ravenscraft Implement, Inc., from his father Sam. On December 28th, 1974, Jay married Cindy Ralston of Towanda, Kansas, and they were married for nearly 49 years.  Over the course of his life, he was a successful salesman, winning numerous awards and trips for exceeding sales goals at his business. Jay loved Corvettes and was a member of the Air Capital Corvette Club of Wichita for many years. He obtained his private pilot license while in college and enjoyed flying his own Cessna 210 airplane both for business and pleasure. After a successful career, Jay sold his business to his nephew, Dan Ravenscraft, and retired to the couple’s lake house on Table Rock Lake in Golden, Missouri. They enjoyed many years at the lake with their dog, Bodie, and hosted many visitors during their time there. Eventually, Jay and Cindy relocated to Venice, Florida to be closer to their daughter and son-in-law. They enjoyed spending time with family, going to the beach and soaking up the sun. Also, while in Venice, Jay became an avid golfer and joined the Venice East Golf Club.

Jay lived life to the fullest and will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024, from 5-7 p.m. at Lamb’s Mortuary (120 S.
