BURNS - James A. "Jim" Criger, age 69, passed away June 6, 2016, at Emporia, Kansas. He was born March 19, 1947 at Burns a son of Joe and Alice Beck Criger. He grew up in Burns and attended Peabody High School. As a boy he and his brother David mowed lawns in the summer and worked for local farmers hauling hay. In the winter they shoveled snow. He also enjoyed fishing and playing "500" baseball. He loved old trucks and owned a 1947 Chevrolet 1/2 ton which was his favorite.
Jim was a longtime employee of White Feeds in Burns until he hurt his back and had to quit work. Since 2007 he lived at Hartford.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Barbara Criger and Judith Morris.
He is survived by a brother David of Vassar, Kansas and a sister Janet Myers of Gadsden, Alabama, many nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service 2 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2016 at Burns Cemetery, Burns, Kansas.
