HERINGTON – Ida Mae Wendt, 79, passed away Saturday evening, October 24, 2015, at the Kenwood View Health and Rehabilitation Center in Salina. She was born in Michigan, on December 29, 1935, the daughter of George E. and Mary L. (Evans) Morris. When she was nine years old, she was adopted by Presley & Helen Graves of Goddard. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington, with Pastor Bill Peterson officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Zeiner Funeral Home – Herington Chapel. Mrs. Wendt worked as Herington High School Librarian Assistant from 1970 until her retirement. She was an active member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington; and was active in the Ladies Aide, and always helping in the kitchen along with her sister-in-law Alice. She was an active member of the Herington Hospital Auxiliary. She was united in marriage to Evan L. Wendt on January 22, 1953, he preceded her in death on July 31, 2004. She was also preceded in death by a son, Steve “Big Daddy” Wendt on April 9, 1978; a daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Sjodahl on November 4, 2012; two brothers, Earl Price and Robert Morris; and a sister, Helen Marie Harms. She is survived by her son, Don Wendt and his wife Denise of Salina; two sisters Valera Hamm and her husband Gaylord of Durham; and Shirley Goodman-Davis of California; and a brother, Charles Morris of Illinois. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Michelle Wendt, Kristin (Wendt) Dolan, Stephanie (Wendt) Wold, Michael (Jen) Sjodahl and Jessica Sjodahl; and nine great-grandchildren.
