Harry Schump

Harry’s life began on January 28, 1929 near Herington, Kansas. He was the son of Paul and LauraEtta (Swanson) Schump. Harry was united in marriage to Joann Moore on July 31, 1949. He worked on the Rock Island, Cotton Belt and DR&G railroads, retiring as an engineer in 1993. Harry was a parishioner at St. John’s Catholic Church in Herington. He is survived by nieces and nephews Jane Rickenbrode of Council Grove, Bonnie Hefner of Oklahoma, Craig Schump of Blue Texas, Lori Nuss of Herington and Rod Schump of Manhattan, Deborah Schump of Arkansas, Ron Schump and Perry Schump of Texas, Pam Clark, Rick Schump, Rob Schump and Steve Schump of Washington. Harry passed away on Sunday September 29, 2024 at Council Grove Assisted Living. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings Earl Schump, Harold Schump, Elmer Schump, and Evelyn Forsberg and nephews Dean Forsberg and James Schump. His family will gather with friends on Saturday October 19, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Yazel Megli Funeral Home is serving the family.
