George "Bud" Albert Schwindt

 

Bud’s life began on October 13, 1933, in rural Gridley, Kansas.  He is the son of Johann and Mary Jenny (Rich) Schwindt.  Bud was a graduate of Yates Center High School and a graduate of Washburn University.  He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1955- 1957 after ROTC and was a F-86 Sabre pilot.  Bud was united in marriage to his wife of 64 years Elizabeth “Liz” Herder on April 11, 1959, in Yates Center.  He was an entrepreneur in every sense.  Bud managed the flour mill and grain elevator in Whitewater, and a part owner of a feed lot in the area.  He was always involved in agribusiness and networking.  He was a Butler County Republican precinct leader, served on the Berean Academy Board and was a member of Gideon’s International. Bud had a gift for Scripture memorization and teaching Scripture to others.  His love and devotion to his Lord was evident all through his life.  His greatest accomplishment and joy was his family which includes his wife Liz Schwindt of Whitewater; children Jacque ( Cecil ) Wiebe of Burns, Denise (Ethan) Busenitz of Whitewater, Jenny (Lewis) Wiebe of Newton and Darren (Karis) Schwindt of El Dorado; grandchildren Josh (Ashley) Wiebe, Jodi (Alan) Braun, Curtis (Bitty) Wiebe, Cindy (Melvin) Busenitz, Dan Busenitz, Dave (Rachel) Busenitz, Miah (Trish) Busenitz, Ben (Kara) Busenitz, Jesse (Laurie) Busenitz, Matt Busenitz, Kara Wiebe, Zac (Carol) Wiebe, Megan Wiebe, Dallas (Hannah) Wiebe, Micah ( Macie) Wiebe, Brooke Wiebe, Ashley (Austin) Melton, Alec (Ana) Schwindt, Drew (Pia) Schwindt, Heather Schwindt  and Chase Schwindt; 45 great grandchildren and siblings Mary Schrock, Naomi Rose, Paul (Joyce) Schwindt, Ruth Ann ( Richard) Johnson; sister in law Della Schwindt and several nieces and nephews.  Bud passed away on Tuesday April 11, 2023, at Paramount in Newton. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Gene Schwindt.  His family will gather with friends on Friday April 14th from 6-8 p.m. at the Emmaus Mennonite Church where his funeral service will be held on Saturday April 15th at 10:30 a.m. led by Pastor Howard Friesen of the CrossWay Bible Church.  Bud will be laid to rest in the Milton Township Cemetery.  Lamb Funeral Home is serving the family.  Memorial contributions in Bud’s name may be directed to Gideon’s International or Berean Academy.  Please sign his online guestbook and leave a memory of Bud at www.yazelmeglifh.com
