HERINGTON - Eunice M. Hager, 87, lifelong resident of Herington, died Thursday, February 25th, 2016, at her daughter’s winter home in Tucson. She was born March 18, 1928, in Herington, the daughter of Warren G. and Cecil T. (Hedinger) Grass.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am., Friday, March 11th, 2016, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington, with Pastor Bill Peterson, officiating; inurnment in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Hager was an Elementary School Teacher and later the Middle School Counselor when she retired. She was an active member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, and was very active with W.E.L.C.A. of the church. She graduated from Herington High School with the class of 1946, and received her Master’s Degree in Counselor’s Education from Emporia State University.
She married Richard C. “Dick” Hager on July 30, 1949, at the home of her parents in Herington; he preceded in death on May 17, 2004.
Survived by two (2) daughters: Jean Ann Fry (husband-Jim) of El Dorado, Gay Lynn Hager (partner-Joy Switzer) Raymore, MO; a sister Jeanie Carroll of Hurst, TX; and her granddaughter Jamie Fry (partner-Stephanie Wiley) of Kansas City, MO.
The family requests memorials to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Herington Library; and may be sent in care of the Zeiner Funeral Home-Herington Chapel, 404 S. Broadway, Herington, KS 67449-3038.
