Emma Mae’s life began on September 7, 1934, in Newton. She is the daughter of Clifford M. and Ione (Schuessler) Stuart. She was united in marriage to Ross Litton on March 1, 1953, in Furley, KS. After getting married, Emma Mae moved to rural Whitewater where they farmed and raised hogs, cattle, and three kids too. She also worked many years at Wheatstate Manor as a CNA, Med Aide, and finally as the Activity Director. Emma Mae and Ross travelled all over the world to places like Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and a trip through the Panama Canal. Together they visited 48 of the 50 states, the beautiful mountains of Colorado were her favorite. She was an active member of Grace Hill Mennonite Church in Whitewater. She had a love for music and for many years served as the church organist and was also a member of the choir. One of her biggest passions was her flower garden and the many different varieties of flowers she had planted and cared for. At one point, she had over 50 different varieties of irises in her garden. Emma Mae is survived by her three children Ronald (Ann) Litton of Whitewater, Cheryl (Terry) Klassen of Whitewater and Diana (Phil) Morgan of Wichita; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; her siblings Loraine Covalt, Fred (Joyce) Stuart, and Kenneth Stuart. Emma Mae passed away on Wednesday November 22, 2023, at Kidron Bethel of North Newton. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. Her family will gather with friends on Wednesday November 29, 2023, from 5-7:30 p.m. at Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday November 30, 2023, at 10:30 at Grace Hill Mennonite Church led by Pastor Weldon Marten. She will be laid to rest in Grace Hill Mennonite Church Cemetery following the service. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Grace Hill Mennonite Church or Harry Hines Hospice.
