WHITEWATER - Elwood H. Zuercher, 90, passed away March 12, 2016, at Newton Medical Center. He was born in Whitewater, December 8, 1925, the son of Arnold and Ida (Roth) Zuercher. He was a graduate of Whitewater High School. He served in the United States Army, during the Korean War. On August 26, 1949, he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Wuthrich. They made their home just south of Whitewater, where Elwood farmed and raised livestock. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Stan, Sandra, Loren, and Norman. He was an active member of the Swiss Church, now the Whitewater Community Church, he also sang in the Grand Old Four men's quartet for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma in 2004; and his siblings: Alma Thierstein, Mildred Zuercher, Vernelle Androes, and Don Zuercher. He is survived by his children: Stan Zuercher and wife Debbie of Whitewater; Sandra Jensen and husband Randy of Whitewater; Loren Zuercher and wife Diana of Whitewater; and Norman Zuercher and wife Kimberly of Charleston, South Carolina; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. All services will be held at Whitewater Community Church (formerly Swiss Church) of Whitewater, with the Visitation from 6 - 8 p.m., Thursday and the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 18, 2016. Interment will be in the Swiss Cemetery. A Memorial Fund has been established for the Whitewater Community Church for Music Ministry, in care of Lamb Funeral Home, 120 S Main, Whitewater, KS, 67154.
