MARION - Ed & Luke Siebert - A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the Marion Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Lee officiating.  A Memorial Fund has been established for the Marion City Library in their honor.  Online Condolences may be left at www.zeinerfuneralhomes.com.  The following are each of their obituaries.

LaQuetta R. “Luke” Siebert - LaQuetta Rhea “Luke” Siebert was born on September 26, 1937, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  She was the daughter of Floyd and Helen (Peck) Cunningham.  She left this earth on June 6, 2015, at Bethesda Homes in Goessel, Kansas, with her husband of 41 years, Ed, by her side.  Luke grew up in Oklahoma City, where she attended school.  She graduated from high school in 1955.  In 1973, Luke and Ed came to Kansas, from Oklahoma, and were married November 10, 1973, at the Aulne United Methodist Church, Aulne, Kansas.  Soon after their marriage they were joined by their children from Oklahoma, Ed’s children, Julie and Rick; and Luke’s son, Charles Reece.  The family made their home in Aulne.  Luke was a city girl and it was a shock to her to come to such a small town in Kansas, but she soon grew to love it here and made many friends.  In 1997, the couple moved to Marion, and Luke enjoyed living in town.  She was proud of her home and spend many happy hours decorating, shopping with friends, tending to the wildlife in their backyard, and tending to her flowers.  She loved her neighbors and would walk the 8 block neighborhood daily, rain or shine, putting her neighbors morning papers on their porches, tucking small treats in for the holidays.  She loved small children and the elderly.  She also enjoyed choosing special gifts and doing special deeds for the people in her life. Luke spent many happy years working at Kingfisher’s Inn at the Marion County Lake.  Waitressing brought her joy and her quick wit and happy smile made her a favorite with the customers.  Her failing health brought her to Bethesda Home in Goessel, where she spent the last year and a half of her life, where she was lovingly visited daily by her husband Ed.  Luke was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Joe Cunningham.  She is survived by her husband, Ed of Marion; her daughter, Tracy Garrison and her husband Lynn of Edmond, Oklahoma; her son, Charles Reece and his wife Cindy of Hillsboro; step-children:  Rick Siebert and wife Kelly of rural Allen; and Julie Ascencio of Overland, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Sue of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Edward E. “Ed” Siebert - Edward E. “Ed” Siebert was born May 3, 1941, in Hillsboro, Kansas.  He was the son of Wilmer and Mildred (Bluhm) Siebert.  Ed grew up west of Marion, and attended Morning Star School.  He was a graduate of Marion High School with the class of 1959.  Ed married LaQuetta R. “Luke” Cunningham Reece on November 10, 1973, at the Aulne United Methodist Church.  Soon after their marriage they were joined by their children, Luke’s son, Charles Reece, and Ed’s children:  Julie and Rick.  The family made their home in Aulne.  In 1997, he and Luke moved into Marion.  Ed was employed for Lewis & West, Inc., of El Dorado.  At his retirement he was the concrete plant manager.   Ed was country through and through.  He enjoyed riding his BSA motorcycle and also liked to hunt.  After retirement Ed took up wood turning.  A lot of family members have pieces that he made.  During the summer working on the farm was something Ed thoroughly enjoyed.  You could always find him driving a grain truck or operating “Smokey” his dozer.  During the winter, Ed would use his four-wheeler to clean snow from his neighbors’ driveways.  His best hours were spent with his wife, whether it was taking a drive, a stroll around the neighborhood, or at their home, their lives were complete – together.  After losing the love of his life, Ed was not the same.  Everything he did, he did for Luke.  Ed’s health soon began to fail.  On January 28, 2016, he passed away at his home, surrounded by his children.   He was preceded in death by his wife, Luke; his parents, and his daughter, Brenda Siebert.  He is survived by his son, Rick Siebert and his wife Kelly of Allen, Kansas; his daughter Julie Ascencio of Overland, Missouri; his step-children:  Charles Reece and his wife Cindy of Hillsboro; and Tracy Garrison and her husband Lynn of Edmond, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and siblings:  Richard Siebert and wife Darlene of Wichita; Jerry Siebert and his wife Micki of Cedar Point; and Karen Regnier and her husband Mike of Marion.
