MARION – Doris E. Ewert, age 98, passed away May 19, 2016, at the Marion Assisted Living Center. She was born January 4, 1918, in Marion, the daughter of Glenn and Lucy (Pierce) Kline. She was a Marion High School Graduate with the class of 1936. On August 10, 1941, she was united in marriage to Harold L. Ewert. Their marriage was blessed with 5 children: Max, Wayne, Donna, Gene and Gary. She was a bookkeeper at Seymour Packing Plant and also for Standard Oil Company. She was an active member of the Eastmoor United Methodist Church. She went on mission trips to Texas for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold in March, 2001; her son Wayne in January, 2009; her sister Bernice Burkdoll; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild. She is lovingly survived by her children: Max Ewert and his wife Gerri of Marion; Donna Hajek and her husband Jerome of Marion; Gene Ewert and his wife Kathy of Neodesha; and Gary Ewert and his wife Elaine of Marion; a daughter-in-law Linda Ewert of Billings, Montana; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be announced by Zeiner Funeral Home of Marion. Memorial Funds have been established for Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Good Shepherd Hospice, Marion City Library, or Marion Assisted Living in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm, Marion, KS, 66861.
