Donald George Swiger

HERINGTON - Donald “Don” George Swiger was born July 27, 1960, in Reed City, Michigan, to Paul and Lucille (Richter) Swiger.  Don passed away February 16, 2018, in Council Grove. 

Don lived the majority of his life in Michigan, raised in Evart, MI, though lived and traveled around the country for many years before settling in Kansas.  His biggest passion was for hunting and fishing, and he was an avid sportsman at both. 

On October 17, 1980, he married Helen Shuell in Reed City, MI.  Survivors include his wife; Helen Swiger of Herington; seven children: Samantha Kay Beames, (husband-Rusty) of Herington, Amanda Paradis (husband-Billy) of Florida, Dennis Pontius and Robert Pontius (wife-Megan) of Sacramento, CA, Ann Van Etten (husband-John) of Grand Rapids, MI, Jeff Pontius (wife-Victoria) of Cadillac, MI, and Tony Pontius (wife-Tisha) of Evart, MI; a brother, Rodney Swiger of Evart, MI; eight grandchildren: Robbie Beames, Rebecca Beames, Nichole Swiger, Kevin Pontius, Carson Pontius, Audrina Sorojinda, Marissa Pontius, and Annie Joost.   

Cremation is planned.  In the spring, there will be a scattering service in Michigan.
