Derrick B Staatz

Derrick’s life began June 11, 1984 in Great Bend, KS.  He was a resident of Herington, KS, and passed away March 30, 2020 at the age of 35. He was the son of Ronald Staatz and Dabney Jiles.

Derrick worked as a fork lift operator at Footlocker but his passion was being there for others and lifting them up when they were down even if he was experiencing struggles of his own. He loved to encourage others and taking care of the elderly. He was a passionate and enthusiastic Kansas City Chiefs fan and he loved Chevys. He spent a lot of time with his niece and nephew and could often be seen at the basketball court with his niece, Jacey. Derrick was a very spiritual person and had a strong love for God.

Derrick is survived by his father, Ronald Staatz of Herington; his mother, Dabney Terhune-Jiles of Topeka; his brothers Elijah Staatz (Sara) of Council Grove; and Michael Terhune of Sedalia, MO; his sister, Tiffany Bozarth of Spencer, Iowa; nieces Jacey and Aurora and nephews Tobias, Parker, Zander and Gauge.

A graveside service will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery on Friday, May 22, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Yazel-Megli Funeral Home is serving the family.
