Dennis C. Burch, Jr.

LINCOLNVILLE - Dennis Carl Burch, 71, Jr., departed this life, Wednesday, Dec. 2nd, 2015, at the Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, KS. He was born on May 28th, 1944, at Maysville, North Carolina, the son of Dennis C. and Edna G. (Stevens) Burch, Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, Dec. 9th, 2015, at the First Baptist Church, Herington, with Rev. Darrell Geist, officiating.  Burial will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery with military honors.  A family visitation will be Tuesday evening at the Zeiner Funeral Home-Herington Chapel, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.

Mr. Burch served two tours of combat duty in Vietnam with the U. S. Army.  He received the Vietnam Service Medal with one silver star and the Master Aircraft Crewman Badge. He retired as a Command Sergeant Major at Ft. Riley, Kansas. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.  He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by a brother Paul Glenn Burch and his parents.

He married Nila Lee Harmon on Oct. 20, 1964, at Pearisburg, VA, she survives of the home. He is survived by three daughters Melissa Burch of Junction City, KS, Anita Jo Crawford and her husband Paul of Ft. Benning, GA, Theressa Wade and her husband Richard of Indiana, three brothers Doug Burch and his wife Bonnie of Goldsboro, NC, Durwood Burch and his wife Jane of Richlands, NC, Larry Burch and his wife Pearl of Ivanhoe, NC, a sister Betty Gurganus and her husband Bobby of Jacksonville, NC, a half-brother Daniel Burch and his wife Nell and a half-sister Malisa Baker all of Angier, NC, a sister-in-law Kathy Burch of Chinquapin, NC, 6 grandchildren; Kaelyn, Carlee, Michael, Travis, Evan, David, and four great grandchildren; Mia, Audry, Zayden, and Alexa.

The family requests memorials to the First Baptist Church, Building Fund, PO Box 408, Herington, KS, 67449.
