Christina Kay Parks

Christina's life began on August 3, 1984, in Salina.  She is the daughter of LaVerne and Tracy (Stover) Parks.  Christina is a 2003 honors graduate of Herington High School.  She was working as a CNA at Diversacare in Council Grove.  She has worked at the nursing home in Enterprise and in Herington and did some factory work as well.

 She was an animal lover, especially her cats and ferrets.  Christina loved helping people and had a passion for caring for her nursing home residents.  She always put everyone before herself.  She was known for her hospitality and loved to cook for family and friends. She loved a good Bingo date as well. She always made people feel so welcome and made sure that they felt comfortable in their own skin.

Christina is survived by her sister Nichole (Emil) Strauss of Herington; grandmother Kathy Stover of Herington; “adopted children” Cora and Lucas Hopke (Mother-Heather Hopke) of Osage City and Mashyla Pantoja (Mother-Marlana Knapp-Casrillon) of Topeka; uncles David (Stephanie) Stover of Herington, and Daniel (Jennifer) Stover of Abilene; Aunt Penelope Anderson of Junction City and nieces and nephews Skylar, Destiney, and Cameron Strauss of Herington.

  Christina passed away on Saturday August 26, 2023, at Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, surrounded by some of her nearest and dearest family and friends.  She is preceded in death by her mother Tracy Parks, Grandfather Neal Stover, as well as an aunt and cousins.

  Her family will gather with friends on Saturday September 2, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home in Herington where her funeral service will be held at 4 p.m.
