Cheryl Fay Utech

Cheryl’s life began on March 18, 1947, in Salina, Kansas. She was the daughter of Jesse V. and Margaret E. (Burk) Downs.
 
She met James C. Utech while working in Salina, Kansas. They married on December 15, 1979, at St. Paul Lutheran Church at Herington.
 
Survivors include her husband, James C. Utech; children, Kimberly Splawn (Robert), of New Strawn, KS, James M. Utech (Lora), of Topeka, KS,  Nancy Erickson (Lewis), of Bel Aire, KS; grandchildren, Ethan Criqui, Kaelin Criqui, Noah Criqui, Emily Caro (James), Drew Utech, Rose Payne (Kelly), Betsy Rogg (Nathan), Bobby Erickson (Katelyn) and seven great-grandchildren, siblings; Steve Downs (Rosalie) of Colorado Springs, CO and Greg Downs (Eileen) of Hutchinson, KS, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
 
She passed away on Sunday May 5, 2024, at University of Kansas Medical Center, St Francis in Topeka. She is preceded in death by her parents. 
 
Her family will gather with friends on Thursday May 9, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington. Her funeral service will be held on Friday May 10, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
