Carolyn Steere

August 5, 1939 — September 26, 2018

Carolyn Kay Steere, age 79, was born on August 5, 1939, the daughter of Bill and Lottie Cashman in Alta Vista, Kansas. She was raised on the Cashman Farm as the middle child with her two sisters, Jean Pearson, Tonganoxie, Kansas and Mary Picolet, Tecumseh, Kansas. Kay graduated from Alta Vista High School in 1957 and worked for the Santa Fe Railroad early in her career.

Kay is survived by her husband of 60 years, Larry Ray Steere whom she married on April 4, 1958 at Pleasant Ridge Church, Alta Vista, Kansas.

Larry and Kay had four children, Jeff (Vicki), Aurora, Colorado, Steve (Patricia), Denver, Colorado, Kelly Reifsnider (Mike), Aurora, Colorado, Karla Stovall (Ray), Little Elm, Texas.

Kay’s hobbies and interests included membership in the Red Hat Club, reading novels, embroidery and quilting, traveling, gardening, collecting teacups and taking care of her family. An active volunteer for over twenty years with Arlington Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in addition to the Northwest Christian Church. Kay loved her 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and looked forward to visiting them often. She will be missed by all including many nieces and nephews because of her generosity, hospitality, and love of life.

Mrs. Steere passed on September 26, 2018 in Arlington Texas. Preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services to be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Northwestern Christian Church, 1001 N Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012.

Burial services will be held at the Alta Vista Cemetery, Alta Vista, Kansas on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 11:00 am.
