Carol Deason, of Abilene, former longtime resident of Topeka, died Saturday, November 17, 2018, at the Abilene Senior Living Home. She was born December 22, 1940, on a farm south of Herington, the daughter of Sam and Sophia (Blume) McRae. She was blessed to be a member of a large and loving family, having three older brothers (Tom, Don Wayne) and three older sisters (Betty Duren, Beth Pagenkopf, Mildred Smith).
Carol was director of tax operations for Westar of Topeka, for many years. She graduated from Herington High School with the class of 1958, and earned her BBA degree from Washburn University.
In 1965, she married Curtis D. Deason in Topeka, and in 1993 he preceded her in death. Children Deane Deason (Pam), Denise Deason-Toyne (Mike),Diana (Joe) Deason-Crapo, and Donna Deason; both Pam Deason and Donna Deason preceded in death.
Carol was blessed by her six older brothers and sisters, three (3) grandsons, and four (4) great grandsons; and her nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews brought her a good deal of love and entertainment.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, November 20th, 2018, at the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington. The family will receive friends from 10AM until 11AM Tuesday, at the Zeiner Funeral Home – Herington Chapel.
