Carol Rose Burns

 Carol’s life began on February 11, 1937, in Dwight, KS.  She is the daughter of Henry Edmond and Kathryne Elizabeth (Pickering) Say.  Carol graduated from Wilsey High School, in the class of 1955.  She was united in marriage to Gail Chester Burns on June 23, 1957, at the Wilsey Christian Church.

Carol had fond memories of working at the Fairmont Creamery in Council Grove, the Post Office in Delavan, her time working for the local chiropractor and at the Herington Times newspaper.  Her greatest job though was that of wife and mother.  Carol was active on the election board and working as a poll worker, enjoyed the Delavan EHU group, participating in 4H as a young lady and having the strength to be a breast cancer survivor.

Her greatest joy was her family which includes her children Dylan (LeAnn) Burns of Edmond, OK, Victor (Gail) Burns of Lincolnville, Doyle (Pam) Burns of Wichita and Vicki ( Jason) Wolf of Medora, KS; grandchildren Tyler Burns, Natalie ( Alex) Marks, Travis ( Kayla) Burns, Bridgette (Jesse) Hamm, Jesse Crump, Katie Burns, Dusty Wolf and Dakota Wolf; great grandchildren Ruby Marks, Sawyer Hamm, Chev Reimer, Braxton Wolf, Reagan Marks, Asher Henry Burns, Lainey Burns, and Jaxx Bauer; sister Corene Wilson of Georgia and several nieces and nephews.

Carol passed away on October 4, 2023, at the Hospice House in Hutchinson.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gail, sister Deloris Mickey and great grandchild Brylee Mae Burns.  Carol’s family will gather with friends on Tuesday October 10, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington where her funeral service will be held on Wednesday October 11, 2023, at 10 a.m. led by Pastor Clarence Sumner.  She will be laid to rest in Delavan Cemetery following the service.  Memorial contributions in Carol’s name may be directed to Dickinson County Home Health and Hospice.  Please sign her online guestbook and leave a memory of Carol at www.yazelmeglifh.com.
