Ayn Marie Gilliland, 72, of Topeka was born on April 21, 1950, in Kansas City, MO to Dr. James Gilliland and Mildred Gilliland (Keith). Ayn passed away peacefully on July 26, 2022, at Topeka’s Presbyterian Manor.
Ayn was a graduate of Herington High School with the class of 1968, and later graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. After college, Ayn worked at KSU, in Governor Robert Docking’s office, and for the Kansas Department of Transportation in Topeka. After moving to Alabama, she worked for Intergraph Corporation, Virginia College, and Books a Million. Ayn’s hobbies included genealogy and she was a voracious reader.
Ayn is survived by her brother; Robert Lee Gilliland (Debra) of Huntsville, AL, nephews James Robert Gilliland (Katie) of Charlotte, NC, David Lee Aldridge (Kristy) of Winchester, KY, and niece Stacy Michelle Wilhold (Gilbert) of Huntsville, AL, and many great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents. Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Herington Chapel is serving the family.
