Audrey M Hysom

Audrey’s life began on December 13, 1925, in Hutchinson, KS.  She is the daughter of Tony “T’B.” Colvin and Eva Mae (Berg) Colvin.  She is a graduate of Hutchinson High School.  She was united in marriage to Alva Hysom on June 19, 1943, in Hutchinson.  Thus began a wonderful and loving relationship blessed with 4 children;  Sue, who joined the Lord November 15, 2021, Steve, Sandy and Jerry. They were always teasing over who Mom loved the most. Audrey was a homemaker most of her life except for a few years that she worked at McCoy’s Bookstore.  She was also called to be a pastor’s wife and was active at several churches that Alva pastored as a United Methodist minister.  But if the truth be told, she was the quiet strength in Al’s ministry. Her life exemplified compassionate Christian love to all she met. Audrey’s greatest joy was her family which includes her children Steve (Arlene) Hysom of El Dorado, Sandy Hysom of Wichita and Jerry Hysom of Salina and son in law John Utterback; grandchildren Cindy Vargas, Sandy (Tom) Lampo, Tim (Nicole) Utterback, Amy (Jeff) Belden, Beth (Bob) Hysom-Strandberg, Cheri Summers and Jamie (Brian) Morales; great grandchildren Chantal (Adam) Rasnic, Chelsea (Dylan) Lefort, Makayla Vargas (fiancé Christian), Keagan Lampo, Kailey (Brandon) Moen, Racheal (Andrew) Cooper, Cierra (Stephen) Hinwood, Sadie (Jonathan) Utterback, Ella Utterback, Evelyn Utterback, Jamison Dimas, Taylor (Michael) Montgomery, Bryant (Mariah) Belden, Ariel Strandberg, Jacob Strandberg, Anya Summers, and great great grandchildren Aylah, Kasyn, Maeve, Austin, Aliyah, Bradleigh, Beckett, Rhyatt, Brooklyn, Creighton, Aaron, Emberly, Genevieve, Sophia, Moyza.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Sue Ellen Utterback and two brothers.  Her family will gather with friends on Sunday March 19, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the Kanopolis United Methodist Church for her memorial service.  She will be laid to rest in the Kanopolis Cemetery.  Memorial contributions in Audrey’s name may be directed to the Kanopolis United Methodist Church where her husband’s ministry began.  Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Marion is serving the family.  Please sign her online guestbook and leave a memory of Audrey at www.yazelmeglifh.com.
