Art’s life began on October 31, 1940, in Herington. He was the son of Sal and Adelia (Albrecht) Schlesener. Art was a 1958 graduate of Herington High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965. Art worked as a civilian contractor at Fort Riley for 33 years. He also painted houses in the area for many years. He was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Art is survived by his son Tad and his wife Tricia Schlesener of El Dorado, his niece, Jarolyn (David) Geist; great nieces, Amy Chapman and Amber Howells; great-great nieces and nephews; Riana, Gavin, Bowan, Elena, and Jaren. Art passed away on August 29, 2022, at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Larry Schlesener; sister Lola (Schlesener) Atkinson. His family will gather with friends on Tuesday September 6, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery for his graveside service with military honors led by Pastor Bill Newman.
