Robert Lee Thornhill

Grover Alvin Thornhill and Dorothy (McRae) Thornhill welcomed Robert Lee Thornhill into the world on October 13, 1951 in Abilene Kansas. Robert was accompanied by Jerry, Sharon, Gordon, Ruby and Alana to complete this amazing and loving family we all know.

Robert attended school in Enterprise and Chapman Kansas and served in the Army National Guard and Army Reserve from 1971-1977. Robert also operated heavy machinery and worked as a welder for the remainder of his life.

He found enjoyment in the simple things that brought him happiness over the years.

Robert loved to hunt and fish, and also enjoyed collecting antiques, coins, trinkets, and antique hand tools. These interests reflected his curiosity and the pleasure he’d took in the things that caught his eye. He also loved to cook and always shared extras with neighbors and family, which was often. Robert was often seen as the kind, helpful, and fathering… willing to take care of his fellow man and animal alike. He had the biggest heart, and was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, never asking for anything in return.

Robert is survived by his children Crystal Thornhill of McPherson, Travis Thornhill of Salina, James (Ashley) Thornhill of Marion and Chelsea (Drew) Weber of Cedar Point. He is also survived by his siblings Sharon Middleton, Ruby Anderson, Gordon (Sandy) Thornhill, and Alana (Mike) Taylor, countless nieces, nephews and their children, 10 grand children and 3 great grandchildren… and will be missed greatly by all.

He will be remembered for his years of service, hard work, laughter, great big hugs, knowledge, and common quotes like answering the phone with “What are you doing?” with an ornery tone, and “Well, I hate to eat and run, but…”

A military honors ceremony for Robert will take place at the American Legion in Florence, Ks at ——-time, ——- date.

Robert will be laid to rest in Lewis cemetery in Ramona, Ks together with his late love Judy Bickford, following a celebration of life at a date later to be determined.
