Bobby Berle Herren, 90 went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 6, 2026. He passed away suddenly at home.

He was born on July 4, 1936 in Hunnewell, Missouri to Berle Leroy Herren and Effie Mae (Walker) Herren. Bobby was one of eight siblings. He graduated from Eureka, Kansas High School in 1955 and began a 22-year career with the US Navy. During his enlistment, he received his Associates Degree at Delmar Technical College in Corpus Christi, Texas.

He met and later married Mary Lou (Schmidt) Herren August 13, 1960 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Marion, Kansas. To this union they had four children.

After serving in the Navy, he and Mary Lou owned and operated a Maytag store in Osage City, KS. After moving to Marion, he attended the Aulne Church, enjoyed woodworking projects and turning wood pens, beekeeping and enjoyed his honeybees during that time.

Bobby leaves behind a legacy felt by all who knew him and was an inspirational influence for his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He never stopped learning, demonstrated the value of hard workand was proof that anyone could make the life they wanted, if they were willing to work for it.

Those who preceded him in death are a son, Windy Berle; his siblings Moetta Escareno, Jean Story, Betty White, Doris McCarthy, Billy Herren, Morris Herren and Elwood Walker.

Those surviving are his spouse, Mary Lou of almost 66 years (1 week short); sons, David (Mary) Herren of Oklahoma City, Timothy (Lori) Herren of Peculiar, MO; daughter, Bobbie Jo (Bill) Thornton of Winter Haven, Florida; 8 grandchildren, Dara, Zach, Kelsey, Joshua, Sydney, Nathan, Ryan, Nicholas; 15 greatgrandchildren; 3 great great Grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 10 from 6-8 pm at the Yazel-Megli Funeral Home in Marion with family present. A service will be held on Tuesday, August 11 at 10:00 at the Aulne Church.

Memorial donations may be given in Bobby's name towards the Aulne Bible Church or Boots Campaign in care of Yazel-Megli Funeral Home.
